Our friend Ifor has a canal boat. This week he was moored along side the Pyewipe at Lincoln. So nearly all the club members decided to pay him a visit. On Wednesday we all travelled by car with drivers, Syd Jimmy, Bren and Joyce 1. Somehow Joyce managed to get lost by missing the turning to the pub. This is easily done as the sign is situated only on one side of the road.
On arrival we all sat outside in the wonderful sunshine chatting with Ifor, and having a drink. We then decided to have our meal first, and then Ifor was going to take anyone who wanted, for a ride on the boat up to Saxilby. Fourteen of us were seated together, and most decided to have gammon, a couple had steak and one had chicken. Then we had to decide whether we should have a sweet. A few had ice cream and one had chocolate brownie with ice cream and chantilly cream, see photo.
Once we were fed, we then went over to Ifor's boat, the Abigail Jenna, to see who wanted to go. As I am disabled I decided to find out whether I could get onto the boat. To my amazement I could. I was joined by Heidi, Joyce 2 June and Tony. Once we set off Heidi made us a cup of tea. Tony was at the helm and the ladies sat at the bow having a natter. The journey lasted one and a half hours and was very enjoyable. Unfortunately we didn't see the wildlife that Ifor has seen on his journey's. Jimmy and Syd were waiting for us at the other end, Saxilby. When we got back on land and had a few more words, we then said our goodbyes to Ifor and set off for home.
At our meeting today, we have been looking at the photo's that Tony had taken, and a few comments were made about our meal at the Pyewype. But everyone decided that we had a wonderful day out for our special occasion, with grateful thanks to Ifor, for everything he has done for the club, the trip on the boat, with possibly more to come and more importantly his friendship that he has for us all. Thankyou Ifor.
